  • IHBS uses an Aged Outstanding Claim report to discover when carriers do not respond to claims
  • Reports are run by carrier, based on promised turn-around time
    • Medicare: 10 days after claim submitted
    • Medicaid Wisconsin: 7 days after claim submitted
    • Illinois Public Aid: Web based verification of claims in process
    • Managed Care: Blue Cross Blue Shield and various others, day payment promised
    • Internet claims adjudication tracking for most contract carriers
    • Workers Comp: 7 days after claim submitted
    • All others: begin 6 weeks after claim submitted
  • Direct phone contact with the payer is often the best way to discover problems and provide necessary missing or incorrect information
